1/1E Responsibilities/Objectives of Level 1, First Engine?
RECONNAISSANCE/SIZE-UP/FIRE ATTACK
- Identify this as a HR and assume IC.
- Check alarm panel and annunciator for location of fire/alarm. Relay to Communications.
- FE will begin connecting to standpipe and sprinkler systems, normally standpipe first.
– Fire Attack; CA and FFs will identify the stairwell to be used to go aloft and will proceed to the floor 2 floors below the fire floor, check for suitability for staging and announce this to IC.
– Continue up stairwell to fire floor with 100 feet 2 1/2“ for size up. Include state of floors immediately above and below fire floor in size-up.
- Relay size-up to IC.
– Relay any need for rescue/evacuation to IC.
– If necessary connect hose one floor below fire floor and initiate fire attack with 100’ 2 1/2”. Do NOT initiate fire attack until sure there is a continuous water supply to the standpipe.
– Give complete report on situation to IC
