What is the point range and suit for 2/1 semi-forcing response of 1NT?

Opener bids 1 MAJOR, Responder has 6-12 points

How is 2/1 semi-forcing 1 NT different than normal 1NT response?

Normal 1NT response says 6-10 points and no support for suit bid. 2/1 says 6-12 points to respond to 1 MAJOR opener.

When can Opener pass a 1NT response?

With a balanced minimum hand, and no thought of going to game.
Hand will be 5-3-3-2 (we opened 1 MAJOR)

or

5=4=2=2 with 13 pts or less.

When can't Opener pass a 1NT response?

Unbalanced hands SHOULD bid again.

except 5=4=2=2

Any hand with singleton or void MUST bid again.
