Mitral valve prolaspse is what?

Upward bulging of mitral valve leaflets above 2mm that tricuspid valve and is an echo finding

During MVP murmur heard is?

After S1 and ejection click u wil hear a mid systolic click due to stretching of chordae tendinae and papillary muscle due to upward bulge of mitral valve and after this click there will be blood leak in to atrium and it is heard as late systolic crescendo decrescendo murmur .

Do MVP MURMUR alter during squatting and standing?

Prolapse is inversely proportional to cavity size.....so during standing venous return decreases and left ventricular cavity size decreases and increase prolapse ..increase in prolapse means mid systolic click hear earlier and then during of murmur increases .and the reverse happens in squatting.

Symptoms in MVP?

Mostly asymptomatic ,and then due to repeated strectching of paillary muscle and stress in myocardium will cause ischemia of myocardium (subendocardial ischemia )and cause chest pain ...and inturn this ischemia may lead to ventricular arrhythmia and it shows as palpitation...and then due to blood leak in to left atrium and structural damage to atrium can cause atrial fibrillation, and then at last left ventricular failure and sudden death ...and MVP is prone for infective endocarditis and thus vegetation can cause TIA .

Causes for MVP?

Myxomatous degeneration of valve (collagen 3 defect),marfans syndrome, ehler danlos syndrome, osteogenesis imperfecta ,straight back syndrome, rheumatic fever(aschoff bodies),infective endocarditis(vegetations),DCM will dilate miltral valve annulus ,and congenital defect like ASD .

Ecg changes in MVP?

Ecg changes initially will be pre ventricukar contraction.and then if atrial fibrillation comes it will be shown .

ECHO finding in MVP?

Valve bulge more than 3mm and then in Doppler blood leak during late systole.

Treatment in MVP?

Prophlaxis for INFECTIVE ENDOCARDITIS,b lockers for palpitation and reduce stretch stress on myocardium and pain ,anticoagulants if atrial fibrillation occurs and then in persistent mitral regurgitation do miltral valve replacement

All murmurs increased with increased blood flow retuen to heart except?

MVP and HOCM
