HINGE TIP DESIGNS
Flat Button:
- most common

- furnished if not otherwise specified

Hospital:
- sloped end

- easily cleaned

- prevent attachment of rope/cords in psych wards and jails

HINGES
- full mortise (butt hinge) is most typical: both sides mortised flush to door and frame

- surface types also available

- Raised Barrel hinges have barrel offset to allow one leaf to be mortised into frame

- Swing-Clear hinges special shape allows door to swing 90 or 95 deg. so full opening available

- available with or without ball bearings: low-frequency (residential) use std weight PLAIN-bearings; most commercial require std-weight BALL-bearings, high-frequency (theaters, bldg entrances) require heavy-weight BALL-bearings; fire rated assemblies with closers require BALL-bearings

INTERIOR GLAZING

STANDARD GLASS FRAMING

INTERIOR GLAZING TYPES

1. Float Glass
- standard glass
- used where additional strength or other properties are not required
- can be used in small openings where safety is not required

2. Tempered Glass
- extra strength
- safety glass
- usually 1/4" th for interiors
- must be ordered to exact size: once tempered, can't be cut
- chance of distortions or tong marks

3. Laminated Glass
- interlayer of polyvinyl butyral
- can be ballistic resistant (if tempered)
- high security due to impact resistance
- can be field cut

4. Wire Glass
- fire rated assemblies
- not considered safety glass

5. Patterned Glass
- molten sheet through rollers
- obscured vision through panel

5. Fire-Rated Glazing
- wire glass is fire-rated
- other types: clear ceramic, tempered fire-rated glass, tempered layers w/gel between, rated glass block
