“Journalism without a moral position is impossible. Every journalist is a moralist, It’s absolutely unavoidable. A journalist is someone who looks at the world and the way it works, someone who takes a close look at things everyday and reports what she sees, someone who represents the world, the event, for others. Facts are not always what they appear to be. Over the years the name Yellow Papers has lost its name and has developed into what is now known as “Yellow Journalism”. (Origins Yellow Journalism, 2004)
Richard Felton Outcault was known for his amazing comic strip the “Hogan’s Ally”. The Yellow Kid was very popular and R. F. Outcault made the strip a Zeitgeist. He was a great artist and he had the gift to see New York for what it truly was. He became the Father of the comic strips. His sense of humor and art work was more aimed towards African American living situation.This comic strip was made for adults and not children. No one recognize that
R. F. Outcault comic strip was in the Truth magazine four different times. This was before he made an appearance in newspapers. Outcault's first comicstrip for Truth magazine was called Feudal Pride in Hogan’s Ally:
Little Rosilla McGraw- No; we won't come come and play with you, Delia Costigan. Our rejected means may temporary necessitate our residin’ in a rear tenement, but we’re jist as exclusive as when we lived on the first floor front and papa had charge of the pound in the Department of Canine Captivity! Richard Felton Outcault showed how hard it was for people to live in New York, the struggle that some had to face on a daily bases. In this comicstrip it shows kids even have it hard. They do not have time to play, they have to survive.
