Reflection Paper On Worldview

Decent Essays
My worldview begins with God. He started everything, set everything into motion, and still has complete control over every facet of creation. So I believe that to have an solid worldview, you must begin with the One who created the world in the first place. Apart from Him, we would be lost. There is no right or wrong when we ignore Him. However, the more pressing dilemma is this: there is no hope or future purpose separated from Him.

God is a God who is detached from this world. Some believe that God did create this universe, but He simply backed away and no longer has anything to do with it. If so, then the Bible is not true when it claims that God cares for His people, knows the names of all the stars, and will create a new heaven and

My family has been devoted to God since I was born, so I have learned most of what I know from their teaching me the Bible. I also am involved with many Christian friends and adults who have helped me stretch and learn how to use my gifts to glorify God. They have also helped me understand more of why we are here. Since we are here to praise God, we have an obligation to use what resources we have to do so. I have read inspirational books about God and how we are to love our enemies as well as our friends. Although fiction stories can help us understand spiritual truths, true stories or biographies about suffering and forgiveness stick with you because they are real. They happened. People have sacrificed so much because of their worldview of God, so I can also learn from them. Even movies, videos, music, and theatre have influenced what I think about and how I view God in the world. Small and huge things contribute to any person 's view of …show more content…
One of these occurred thousands of years ago in what we call the “Middle Ages”. The Crusades, in which Christians (or those claiming to be Christians) attempted to retake the Holy Land from the Muslims, actually happened over a period of many years. It was not just a simple, one-time event. Many people made horrible decisions during this time. Because the Bible affirms that the land of Israel is meant for the Hebrew nation, the Muslims were not authorized to take it; but imagine for a moment if some Christians had simply pointed this out in a loving way. What if the Christians decided to reach out and teach the Muslims in love rather than journey out on a mission to kill all Muslims—including innocent people? Christians had an opportunity to act the way Jesus would and show compassion, but many only used the Crusades as a tactic for revenge or for adventure. Many wanted fame, glory, or reward. These motivations are not truly from God. Nowhere in the Bible are these motivations found to be godly. We are taught to act differently than the world around us. When the early Christians made the decision to kill and seek out their own happiness, many acted in the way unbelievers would. We make the same mistakes even today. History teaches us that worldview and choosing to follow the Word can make an enormous difference in how we act in this life. Worldview is extremely essential to living the life God has made us

When messengers from the Byzantine Emperor Alexius Comnenus asked the Christians in Europe to help protect his empire from the Turks, an assembly of churchmen called by Pope Urban II met at Clermont, France on 27th November 1095. The pope addressed the assembly and asked the warriors of Europe to liberate the Holy Land from the Muslims. The response of the assembly was overwhelmingly positive and the first of at least eight crusades was launched. For clarification, I am defining the word ‘Crusade’ as a holy war authorized by the Pope in the name of God which campaigned for political, social, or religious change. The extraordinary success of the First Crusade would eventually make it almost impossible for future Crusades to achieve the same…

While the word ‘crusade’ is defined as a military journey caused by a religious issue, the head of each side just used religious reasons as an excuse to create an exceptional group of infantry to reclaim the Holy Land; resulting in them having greater power. The Crusades were a series of several wars fighting for what the Holy Catholic Church believed to be their religious freedoms. Up to that time, people took pilgrimages to Jerusalem as part of their acts of faith but never in the Bible are Christians called to act for faith. When their route was cut off by the Turks and the people who attempted to cross killed, they began to fight back. They fought to gain back their religious freedoms but in turn killed more people. So to try to get back for the death of their fellow people, they took more lives.…

Throughout history there have been numerous wars started because of the need to help others from living under a supposed harsh regime and save them from being persecuted because of their race, religion or class. Many of these types of wars have been unsuccessful in achieving this goal and only one notable, historical crusade has done this and has succeeded, but at a price. There hasn’t been a movement more momentous than the First Crusade. The First Crusade was a pilgrimage turned military expedition to Jerusalem that was sponsored by Pope Urban II at the Council of Clement in November 1095 in the aspiration to set out from the west to the recover the holy city from the hands of the Muslims. The aim of this paper is to examine the causes…

Throughout the Crusades many Crusaders claimed they were doing something “for the lord” when they actually were doing it because they wanted to get money and land. The religious aspect of the Crusades were simply a facade to make the Christians look better. Also, even if they truly were fighting the war because “God wills it” (Robert the Monk, 333) the people they were fighting against did not view it as a holy war and only fought back out of self preservation, not to protect their…

How Misinterpretation of the Bible Helped the Justification of the Crusades. The Crusades were a series of expeditions undertaken by Christian holy men in the hopes of delivering holy places from Islamic tyranny (Douglas J. Potter). The popes felt that Europe should be under Christian unity, and the pressure that they felt from the Byzantine Empire threatened said unity, so they decided to send troops of men to free the land of the Byzantine Empire once again for the Christians. One would think that for a religion that is supposed to promote the teachings of Jesus, who said “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (Matthew…

Reflective Analysis Case Report Component Paper Worldview is responsible for how we think and how we make decisions on a daily basis. The worldview philosophy I most closely identify with is cathartic (psychological) transformation and empowerment. I believe the influencers that have caused me to seek authoritative careers and embark on achievements beyond limitations to validate my worth were my absent parents. I’ve experienced a lot of personal distress as a child growing up with the feeling of abandonment, insecurity and neglect. I felt my love ones had no logical reasoning for allowing me to grow into an adult feeling these type damaging emotions and cognitive illusions. According to Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”…

Emily Neighbors Professor Williams Foundations of Christian Thought 4/11/16 Christian Worldview The Christian worldview is a complex, yet simple one. If a believer were asked the question of, “What is Christianity?” it could merely be put that it is the acceptance that God is Jesus Christ in human form. He came down to the earth, showed us the correct way of life, and experienced an immeasurable amount of pain and death to save humankind from their sins, and that if one faithfully believes this and lives according to His instructions, then you are saved, forgiven of any sin, and will receive Heaven for all eternity upon death or His second coming.…

Five days after nine- eleven President Bush had used the word “Crusade”, Arthur Jones uses President’s Bushes quotes “This crusade, this war on terrorism, is going to take a long time.” In the memory of the Muslims, the word crusade had meant the many times that the Christians had come to their land and slaughtered so many people. Many of the Christians many view the crusades and great and noble deed to get back the holy lands of Christ. Many Muslims still think about the crusades and the holy war that the Christian had started in the eleventh century and it continues today. The early Christians did not want war, but when the Holy Roman Empire, Constantine won many battles with the cross on his shield, which made Christianity the official religion of the empire.…

All cultures have distinct social and individual worldviews that form a collection of beliefs (or stories) about the universe and life. Worldview is an overall perspective, derived subjectively, a sense of self, beliefs and value systems, philosophies, or ‘mindsets’ based upon individual interpretations of the nature of reality and self-understanding. The worldviews and philosophy of Australia’s first people’s convey plural perspectives through song, dance and stories. Indigenous people’s philosophies contain many similarities to my own ideals for ‘being’. My worldview is who I am, my lived experience and acquired knowledge.…
