1. Scripture
a.) Connect the sacred writings of the world’s major religious traditions and their importance for life decisions of adherents.
Often, religious scriptures describe a way one should live their life. Some examples scriptures may direct a person to live their life is by completing religious sacraments, performing religious rituals/traditions, dressing a certain way, eating certain food or even acting a certain way. In regards to the topic I researched (criteria people must meet in order to reach the afterlife of their religion), I found that with the religions I researched - Christianity, Hinduism and Scientology -, Christian and Hindu both have sacred writings/scripture that talk about how they should live their …show more content…
Essentially, prayer provides one with guidance and exercises one’s faith and hope. Though prayer varies in form based on religion, more often than not, it is regarded as a form of communicating with a higher power. In Christianity, prayer is used to communicate with God as one seeks for dependence or support from Him or to offer Him thanks. Through prayer, a Christian may ask God for help in getting back on track with his or her spiritual or personal life. Prayer can guide an individual down a devotional path that may help them make better life decisions; which can ultimately deepen their ties with God, whom will judge them in the afterlife when their time comes. Though Hindus do not pray in the same way as Christians, prayer is the same in the sense that prayer is being used as a way to communicate with a divine being. As forms of prayer, Hindus often choose to worship one deity whom they make offering to or may choose to chant mantras. Like Christianity, these Hindu prayers are directed at giving thanks or asking for support from the gods. Some Hindu prayers in the form of Mantras such as the “Asatoma”, request that those who say it be led from darkness to light and from the real to the unreal. It is evident through this example of Hindu prayer why prayer is important for Hindus especially in regards to reaching the afterlife, Moksha.
