As the workers come from different states and don’t have their families here, they prefer to change their jobs frequently in search of better opportunities. This gives a hard time to the employers as they have to deal with the high attrition rate.
2. CYCLIC ARRIVALS AND DEPATURES:
The workers who come from other states usually prefer to come in groups, belonging to the same state. As a result they arrive in groups as well as leave the jobs in groups. This is a very difficult situation to handle as the workers leave together, leading to sudden shortage of labor. Example: in case of festivals belonging to a particular state the workers from that state would leave to their state together thus leading to shortfall of manpower.
3. GROUPISM:
When these workers join in a restaurant they look out for people belonging to their own states and thus form a group. This situation leads to groupism in the work place. Such a situation is not good for the business, as leads to clashes of interest between the different groups.

This would lead to less requirements of labor and thus can be easily handled. But this would affect the customers who would like to have their food served.
Another option is for the restaurants to improve their standard there by recruiting freshers from hotel management institutes. This would lead to improvement of the quality of service as well as the customers but this would involve a lot of investment for the owners of the restaurants.
CONCLUSION
This study has showed the diverse nature of workers in restaurants. This diversity may be by force or by choice, but the management of the restaurants has to effectively use this diverse workforce and get the optimum results from them. This will improve the condition of the industry as a whole. Also this industry requires the initiative of the associations so that they help the industry to deal with problems of labor shortage. This will work for the betterment of the industry in future.
