It makes you think if you could go back a change something, would Malcolm still be with us. I believe the main factor of his death was jealousy and animosity. Also while everyone turned a blind eye to the spiritual leader having multiple extra-marital affairs, Malcolm couldn’t ignore it. The Nation taught him to be honest so they got honesty. There was also the sense of betrayal the Nation felt from Malcolm’s conversion to Sunni Islam yet was still gaining popularity. It embarrassed the entire organization. They felt like retribution was needed. To this day, the nation of Islam still holds an animosity for Malcolm X and his legacy. I feel like that’s a problem. Being a Black Sunni Muslim, I was raised to give credit where credit is due. The Nation of Islam was a powerful movement for the advancement of Black Americans. But many of members discredit the accomplishments of Malcolm X and Black Sunni Muslims in general. It shows that envy and jealousy runs deep.
