Wilderness sports involve student’s ability to engage in physical activity within their natural environment, allowing them to use their mind and body to adapt to what is around them. Most students don’t enjoy sports; they do not want to get involved. I know this from experience. When I was younger, PE was the only physical activity I participated in. Sports were not my thing, but I enjoyed being outdoors. The older I got, the more I became an avid outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, hiking, or camping was how I achieved my activity. However, opportunities at school presented field trips for days to places like Nature’s Classroom, where time was spent outdoors, learning about nature, hiking and survival. Unfortunately, those field trips only came up once in a while, which is why I hope to integrate adventure education and wilderness sports into my future lesson
