CLAIM: we still don't know who started the great Chicago fire started

Reason 1: the great Chicago fire did not start by Mrs. O’leary’s cow. It all started with chon and Mrs O'leary's son because the kids were supposed to be in bed but they got out in bed and they started playing with craps and if they were in bed the fire would have never even happened.

Evidence: Mrs O'leary's cow did not start the fire. I read on this website and it said that chon and Mrs O’leary’s sons were playing with craps and one of the boys kicked the lantern and that's how the fire started.

Explain: the boys got out of bed at night so they can play with the craps.

Counter Argument Evidence: But consider this you have no proof of that Mrs O'leary's cow started

The reason why she had a lantern in the barn so she can have light so she can see in the barn. While she was milking the cow. I mean how would someone see in the dark while he or she was doing something?

Evidence: well I don't have the evidence with me but the fire did start in O’leary’s barn so some would have started the fire and I think it was Mrs O’leary’s sons started the fire because her sons got out of bed and they were playing with craps and one of the sons kicked the lantern and that is how the fire started.

Explain: well Mrs O’leary to her sons to go to bed and they were pretending that they were sleeping. When there mother was gone they got out of bed and they went outside to play with the craps and one of the boys kicked the lantern over and that's how the fire started.

How the Great Chicago Fire started will forever be a mystery. I know what started it, it was natural causes because it's hard to believe that a person with a peg leg could run 250ft in the time that he said he ran. Also Mrs. O'Leary couldn't have milked her cow in the middle of the night with no light but a lantern. The lantern is a fire hazard because you had to light it with fire. Plus the wood that was the city was dry so it was really flammable.…

When someone mentions the Great Chicago Fire most people just think of the cow that tipped over the oil lantern, but there was really a lot more to it. 18,000 wood buildings were destroyed, 100,000 people were left homeless, and 120 bodies were found but it is estimated that about 300 people died. There is a debate about whether or not the fire left a negative or positive impact in the long run. The negative effects were all the damage done to the city, the amount of people left homeless, and the people who lost their lives. The positive effects were the more secure city that was rebuilt after, the discoveries on materials that could make people safer, and the laws that would make people safer.…
