White-Water Rafting White-water rafting in Yellowstone is an exhilarating experience, unlike any other that I have had in my life. I am someone who always loved going on adventures, but this was different. There were moments of relaxation, then moments of pure terror of the unknown. These contrasting elements made an experience I will never forget. My family and I make it to the white-water rafting destination. I remember the day having perfect weather, clear sky with mild temperature. There was a decent amount of people there too my surprise, but since my family is so large, we had our own raft. We were all packed inside a bus and headed towards building to get our wetsuits. Even though the temperature was warm, the water was ice cold, so …show more content…
Boarding the raft, I am excited for what is next but also nervous. I had butterflies, thinking about what was going to happen. I come to realize the first part of the rafting is just scenic tour no white-water. I have a sense of calmness after hearing this. Now I just sit back and enjoy the wonderful view, while floating down the river. The enormous mountains to the left of the river, tower over everything. The murky green water mixed with the gray stony bank created a beautiful image in my mind. It was so peaceful, I close my eyes and just listen to the water flowing and birds …show more content…
The tour guide starts going over safety protocol, like what they do on airplanes. He went over what to do if one of us falls out or the raft flips over. This was not comforting to hear, caused me to get anxious. I had these thoughts of the raft flipping in my mind. I can see the white-water in the distance. We draw closer and closer to it, all the while my heartbeat increases. Each of has a paddle to hold and use when the tour guide tells us too. I was gripping the handle as if it was a stress ball. The first white-water was rather light, turning the boat here and there, also some water splashing up. I was sitting at the very front of the boat, so I was splashed with most of the icy water. I started to realize it was not as bad as I thought. My anxiousness turned into adrenaline and

“Here we are,” I thought to myself as my parents and I pulled up to a big oak tree in our old, puke colored Subaru. The massive tree overlooked the Boston Harbor and the enormous cruise boats on it. Under the oak stood an assortment of kids and instructors from all over the world. No a one of them knowing what they were about to get their self into.…

I was mesmerized, and in awe of the beautiful surroundings of mountains and the lake. Everything in Lake Tahoe has meaning to it, and that meaning is life. How precious and beautiful is life? Everything I see is living and has colors and scents. There are many pine trees in lake tahoe and the scent of them is uplifting and relaxing way better than the smell of pine cleaners.…

As the powerful Colorado River churned beneath me, as it has for centuries, and the relentless sun peaked over the top of the North Rim, I could not help but feel astounded. I was in a timeless place: a place disconnected from the society I had left behind miles ago. Down here, in the lowest section of the Grand Canyon, it was just me, my friends, and the heat. Always the heat. We had started our journey, a run from the Grand Canyon’s North Rim to the South Rim, at 4 AM in a futile attempt to avoid the skyrocketing temperature and finish before the sun became the determining factor in the success of our venture.…

“Miami isn’t too far; it is ninety-five miles away at the most…” Maya’s cherubic features made it hard to fabricate an excuse for wanting to stay in Cuba. I knew that staying here, staying in poverty, predisposed me to a life of misery and malnourishment. The journey would be perilous, which made me wonder if it was worth it. I longed to voice my dissent and convince her to condone the actions of the corrupt government, however I knew the time to liberate had come. My patience for living life as nothing more than a pitiful pauper, salvaging and pilfering for my next meal was beyond exhausted.…

It was a gloomy day. I was at our Subdivision’s Local Beach getting ready to swim out to the raft with my four friends. The “raft” as we called it was the bottom end of a Pontoon Boat anchored in the center of Dollar Lake. Occasionally the rain and winds blew it. When my friends arrived we dove into the shallow end of the beach and acquainted our bodies with the cold, late Summer temperature.…

My previous camping trips I have taken in the past years have been memorable and full of hardship. I consider myself a very outgoing and adventurous person, that is why I go on crazy trips. Canoeing is my preferred way of traveling when touring lakes and rivers such as the Boundary waters and the Flambeau river. Major disadvantage of canoes is that they weigh up to 85 pounds. The weight matters being when crossing land to get to the next lake the canoe goes on your shoulders to carry it.…
