Repetition: Repeating yourself should not be considered plagiarism, but for some reason it is. They consider it plagiarism if you submit your own work again in a different class. It’s your own work and words, it’s not someone else’s work, and therefore it should not be considering plagiarism.
What can you do to avoid plagiarism? When you start to write your paper, know what you want to write about (hopefully it’s something you’re interested in). I think that when a teacher makes your write a paper about something you’re not interested in, you tend to use someone else work because it’s a boring topic, and it’s easier to get the information you need to write your paper because you are not interested in the subject and you get the information that the teacher is looking for quicker.
What are some examples of what you can do to make sure you’re not plagiarizing? When you’re researching your topic use multiple sources. Take a lot of note in your own words and give proper credit to the authors, add footnotes, note all of your resources; the more the better. When in doubt you can try online plagiarism checkers sites.
