Most people believe that this means being in the military. That it means that you have to be willing to die for your country, but that isn 't always the case. Being in the military is a great service. Men and women die all the time fighting for this country, trying to keep us safe. This is the greatest thing that an American can do for our country. Thousands of men and women take the oath to fight to the death to keep this country safe, and we will forever be in debt to these people. They risk their lives every day simply so that we can live a safe and comfortable life. Some people just aren 't made for the military and being willing to do anything for your country does not mean that you have to be willing to die for it. Many business men and women go to conventions, etc., to learn how they can help the economy, which in turn helps out the entire population. When the economy is good, living costs drop which makes life easier for everyone. Politicians are also willing to do anything for their country. When people run for a public office, they often put their family or reputation at risk. Lots of politicians are put in danger as they go throughout their life, but they want to lead this country. Back in the seventeen and eighteen hundred, people were very prejudice. Men were dominate species; they were the bosses of everything and women often couldn 't work or when they did, they worked for a terrible pay and did simply horrible jobs. A lot of women weren 't allowed to get an education either. They were forced to stay at home and learn homemaking skills. They were often married off young, sometimes to a man whom they didn 't even know. Whites were also very prejudice to just about every other race. The majority of whites refused to give jobs to other races and owned multiple slaves. Very few blacks in America were free, and if they were, it was usually because they escaped. Even other countries were horrible and prejudice. America was the first country to give women rights, allowing them to be equals with men. We were also the first country to allow all races to have equality. Everyone in the United States is equal, or we would be if everyone who lived in America was a true American and refrained from prejudice. Being prejudice against other is what weakens our country. If every American would treat each other equal, then we could be the strongest country in the world. Being an American means that you treat everyone equal, no matter their religion, race, or
