Are we to blame for the world of the unseen changing at an alarming rate? Throughout the last few decades, the world of viruses have changed. Some harmful viruses are spreading more faster and easier than they ever had before, and there have been some resurrections of some old viruses. The Zika virus can cause birth defects if the mother contracts the virus while she is pregnant there are two main ways that the virus is contracted. It’s sexually transmitted and vector transmitted (Mosquitos). Because the symptoms are so similar to Dengue fever it is common for it to be misdiagnosed as Dengue fever, in addition, the Zika Virus causes birth defects for those who are infected during while they are pregnant. It causes microcephaly which is a birth defect that causes an abnormally small head. In Brazil 2015 there was an increase of the amount of microcephaly and it was linked to an outbreak of a virus in French Polynesia in 2013-2014. Despite all the evidence that was supporting the connection between ZIKV and microcephaly it wasn’t until recently that it was recognized. Not only is it causing microcephaly it also causes premature birth, congenital heart conditions, Neurological disorders, and eye problems. New research shows that the birth defects don’t only occur when the mother is infected during their first trimester, but throughout the entire pregnancy. So far there are 2,500 microcephalic cases reported in Brazil, and now there 346 cases reported in The United States and the numbers are still growing. The Zika virus used to be thought of as not as dangerous as it is. Dr. Anne Schuchat, CDC principal …show more content…

The Dengue Fever virus has symptoms that are like the common flu but with a few sudden onset fever, joint pain, headache, nausea, and in some cases death which is mostly seen in the Indian subcontinent Southeast Asia, Southern China,Taiwan, Pacific Islands, and Central and South America. Dengue fever isn’t as deadly as some of the other diseases in the world, but it is a disease that is easily spread from country to
