In Lubbock, Texas, it was nice day in January the weather was great but strange. I lived ten miles from the downtown, near farms. The weather of Lubbock was usually warm and the cool weather was acceptable for a person who had experience in desert weather. That day was Saturday in the middle of January 2016. I called my friend Othman to enjoy the weather outside. “Hi, othman how are you? Do you have odds today?” I said. He replied “I have nothing, Why do you ask? What do you want?. I told him that I want to enjoy the weather. We went to a park which was located at the end of the town. I noticed that the air direction was unstable and the color of the cloud was different than other days. After the sunset, we went to Read’s house our friend which …show more content…
I walked quickly to my car and started to remove the snow from the windows so I could see, otherwise, I would hit everything. My hands were frozen, I had to remove the snow to complete the task and if I was late the snow will return to the windows. The best thing is the street were sort of empty because people stayed at their homes. I ran to the car but that time took longer than usually to start and heat the machine of the car. Beside, that time was the first time I drove in snow, I was lucky, deserted street, fresh snow. I drove slowly to my home, it took likes three times more than the regular time. I was very careful for intersections to avoid any mistake. I arrived to my destination after the long stressful driving in my life. Because I had to pay attention for every tire’s track of my car . I was controlling 50% of the car just, the car slipped over ice without any hints. That time I wished I had 4x4 truck to feel more comfortable with driving in this situation. I had to make sure that the trun is empty to do the turn because any mistake might create the cars crash and that was a result of slipping. I saw many traffic sign did not work because the severe winds. That time, I had to be aware of my speed and the condition of the road beside the other car speed and direction to avoid them if necessary. The street looked like …show more content…
Texas Tech canceled class in that day. The problem is Lubbock’s people did not know how to deal with snow. So the streets and markets were closed for another day. That week was exams week. Tuesday night, I read in the public transportation website that they would operate their buses on wednesday and the school did not send a cancellation for the day after. So, I planned to walk to the nearest bus gathering spot. I found two, one was one mile away from me and the second was four miles. I did that because my car was in the apartment parking and the parking was full of snow and I could not move my car anywhere. At the wednesday morning, I woke up and hoped that my school was canceled but nothing happend. I started to walk to the one mile spot. The snow was around ten inches and the walking was very difficult especially to who was not prepared. Anyhow, I walked to the bus spot but the bus did not come. So I waited fifteen minutes but no bus appeared. Then I walked to four miles spot. The way was horrible, my feet were hurting me because I need to walk differently. My feet sank inside the snow every step. That time I asked myself why do I have to come to face a situation like that? My feeling was between exciting and sorry for myself in that case. Also, I asked myself why did many people say the snow is wonderful and nice to play with? Did they face what I face now? I could say it is same if I walk in desert in a hot weather but the
