Mass Media tend to show families in the most traditional way, which are families that are built up of only one race. In a 2013, Cheerios advertised a commercial called, “Just Checking,” which featured a little girl with curly brown hair, whose mother was white and father was black. This video had a higher percentage of positive comments, but there were enough negative comments to cause this tremendous upheaval in the mainstream media. Not only were the comments caused my racism, it was because the media did not, and still does not, do a good job in portraying the world’s newest “social norms.” If mixed race and interracial families were broadcasted as reality on television, the people would have no choice but to deal with the fact of the matter. Of course it is inevitable to complete rid this earth of racist people, but it would do a good job in making those who feel left out, become more comfortable with their lives. However Cheerio did do a great job in backlashing at the negativity saying, “There are many kinds of families and we celebrate them
