The goal was to bring back more followers with the internal reform of the Catholic Church. It was necessary to do the work of the Council of Trent, Catholic leaders clarified doctrines, corrected abuses and corruption, and put a new emphasis on education and accountability. The significance for this counter-reformation was to show the world that the Catholic Church can change. This helped change the Church to promote more education and their accountability.
