Values Of Education: The Value Of A College Education

Graduation day has arrived and while this day is exhilarating for most students, it is frightening for others. The ones that have not made a decision whether to attend college or not are most likely the ones that would prefer if the day had not come so fast. The value of a college education is an opinion that is different throughout all people. Most believe that in order to live a successful life, a college education is a must. Others beg to differ stating that the same opportunities should be given no matter if college is pursued or not. If teachers were to prove to their students that life is about more than having an A or a B, students would excel. Bringing home a report card with an F and being punished for it has become the norm. I went to a high school where more kids were failing versus the children that were passing. Just from being around my friends, I could tell that they did not feel accepted. I believe that if school systems were to reward students for their work, many things would change. First being, students would exceed and become successful human beings. Life is about accomplishing something and having it accepted. Once someone graduates from college, the first thing that comes to mind is the job they will complete. If they feel as if they will not earn enough money to make a living, they will not apply for that job. Every education is completed in order to making a living for oneself, therefore, why not reward children while they are still in school? The opinions of many are controlling whether or not students get paid and rewarded for getting good grades. Some debate that if education was that important, students should desire to make better grades without having to be paid. On the other hand, I feel that there should be no problem with giving students motivation to complete something. We begin an education in order to know more for a job. For the ones that make acceptable grades, they often do not consider how it feels for other people to not make the grades they would like. An education is the lead-way to any job you would like. Whether you desire to pursue medicine or accounting, some college education will be required. An education should be more than a letter grades because students are worth more than a letter grade. Students should be rewarded for the hard work they are putting in. Yes, students should have the ambition to complete an education but motivation may give them that push to better themselves. I know several kids that went to the same elementary school as me that would play around and not take their work serious. If we had the opportunity to be rewarded when we were in school, many of my classmates may have went down the right path instead of the wrong path. Letting kids know that they are appreciated may give them the motivation they need to conquer the world. Education is very valuable but often teacher, parents, and students pay attention to smaller things and lose track of what they deserve and
