Grove Medical Association (GMA) serves central Massachusetts with their medical care needs. GMA submitted their case study for consideration in the HIMSS Nicolas E. Davies Award of Excellence for outstanding achievements of organizations that use health IT to improve patient care. The leadership at GMA identified a need to improve patient care by improving patient follow-up and attendance, along with this need and new regulation for EHRs GMA decided the solution was a state of the art electronic record tracking system. They carefully chose an EHR system that fit their objectives and framework by allowing all physicians to vote on multiple options and chose the highest scored. The system they chose was eCW or eClinicalWorks.
GMA constructed a plan of action to implement and train. The initial step in implementation was to train staff on the uses and assist in virtual “live events” where they could …show more content…
Currently, the patients calling for test results could be helped from the electronic record and results were usually available within 12 hours of receipt. The old system involved finding the paper chart and the test results which were often on the provider’s desk for review. By, allowing secure messages to be sent with questions - doctors and medical professionals can reply with advice or suggestions on their own time. All messages are secured with the patient 's self-assigned
