An impulse control disorder is defined as a failure to resist an urge or temptation. Kleptomania is an impulse control disorder in which an individual has an inability to resist stealing an item no matter the worth (Grant). Most of the time, the item is not needed for personal use or is used for the monetary value. The disorder has three essential features that go along with it. The first is a failure to resist the urge from an unneeded item. The second feature is an arousal the moment before stealing an item of unimportance. The final feature is a person receives gratification after the theft has occurred. The disorder is not recognized by many clinics and some doctors even believe the disorder even exist. Everytime I would go to the store with anyone I would try to take it because I would find it very interesting or cool. Occasionally I would just take an item just because I wanted it, and my mom would not get it for me. I would steal something for a while, but eventually I got caught by my mom. Once she caught me I was done with stealing anything from anywhere. I got in so much trouble from stealing and learned a very important life lesson. She would remind me every time we went to the store not to steal or touch anything. If I would touch something she would slap me or my hand. Whenever I go to the store now I never touch anything unless I am told. I try to stay away from people who shoplift from stores because I do not like stuff like that. Pencils our a thing I like to take a lot especially if I just find them laying around. If I find one that is left behind by someone and I do not know whose it is I am going to take it. If I know the person whose pencil I have I will use their pencil the whole day and then give it back to them at the end of the school day. I really like having a lot of pencils at once, so if I lose one I have plenty more to use. I lose pencils a lot so it is always handy to have multiple backups. People always ask for my pencils and I share them a lot. I just like having
