Hosa Personal Statement

Upon reflection of the last few years of my life, I a proud to say that I have transformed from a simple studios human into a captivating self-driven woman. Like others, when I began high school, I was relatively oblivious to the needs of others and lacked insight to who I would become. Immediately after gracing the front doors to my high school, I stumbled upon a variety of activities that satisfied my need for knowledge and my extroverted personality. As a freshman, I participated in volleyball, basketball, and outdoor track. On the academic side, I fell in love with my Health Team Relations class and began to see the beauty of helping and healing others. In the following summer, I began to realize that I could make a difference with my radiant personality and my new found passion for medicine. As my summer progressed, I was also preparing for my upcoming volleyball season; when school began, I made the team, but I also began to broaden my horizons. In my first few months I became a member of Beta Club for my academic excellence, and I became a member of the Hosa Club in hopes of expanding my medical knowledge. In Hosa, I ran for office and was elected as our Historian and I learned that I possessed a hidden talent. Hosa provides a variety of medical events that begin at the regional level and gradually expand; I had the strange ability to memorize medical terminology. My life began to merge my regular activities with medical terms; when my volleyball team would workout in the weight room, I would sneak a stack of flashcards into room and study them in between reps. A proctor administered my test one day in the middle of October and the results would not be presented until the regional conference in November. Volleyball came to a close and I had one week to prepare for basketball
