Haiti has been known as having one of the most corrupt police forces in the world. The police have created a negative outcome on society and there culture by using unethical practices for years. Over done years, the National Police have committed many human rights and broken many laws, that can rival many of the harshest regimes known to man. The Orlando Police Department has had their share of issues when it comes to corruption. There was a case of a woman who won a lawsuit from an unlawful arrest after Orlando police illegally entered her home and pepper-sprayed her back in 2007. An Orlando police officer in 2011 lied on a report when an officer attacks a woman in down town Orlando by slamming her head on the ground. As with any police department in any city around the country, there will be the common complaints that happen when police have dealings with the public. Corruption has also plagued the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in recent years. One of the most publicized cases involved former Sheriff Kevin Beary. Beary was accused of corruption during a political campaign by a former subordinate while running a re-election campaign for Sheriff. His office was accused of miss management of homeland security funds which was audited by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Even though FDLE cleared his department of any wrong doing he was later investigated by the Florida Ethics Commission for possible violation of Florida Ethics laws as a result of his involvement in his homeland security business and then filed four counts against …show more content…
10 Deputies fired 137 rounds at Breedlove a suspected car thief for allegedly trying to run them down with the vehicle. The family 's attorneys say that the apparent lack of damage to Breedlove 's truck bumper shows he didn 't ram any of the patrol cars. The family of Torey Breedlove filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the 10 deputies that were involved in the shooting; the deputies stood by their claim that Breedlove tried to ram them with his truck. This is a case where many things can go wrong and did. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted an investigation and the Orange County Sheriff 's Office with a grand jury determining the Deputies did not violate any laws or policies and were cleared of any wrongdoing. As you know some may see the FDLE and OCSO IA’s internal investigation as police policing police. Some may see this as corrupted due to the findings by the state and local investigators.
