Operation management is defined as a complete series of processes which starts from designing the product or services and involves developing and supplying the products or services of the organization to end consumer. It is the management of processes that transform inputs into goods and services that add value for the customer. It also includes other functions like – Quality management function, Management control and Coordinating function, Facilities management function, Inventory control and management function, Research and development function, Finance function. Quality management and operations can be considered as the two sides of a coin and helps in achieving organizational objectives with their combined efforts & impacts. There are three factors which helps in order to maintain quality for products and services at workplace and these includes planning, assurance and controlling the quality of products or services of the organization. Quality improvement system adopted through monitoring and control is another important aspect for the organizations. Toyota has adopted an efficient quality management system which identifies the requirement of quality for its products and unique methods are adopted in order to deliver the desired quality for their products. Efficient quality system maintained in Toyota can be understood as one of the strongest pillar in their vision to become most trusted automobile brand in industry. Quality products developed by Toyota have helped in order to foster trust and creditworthiness among its customer base. This has helped to achieve competitive advantage to sustain it for a longer period of time. Toyota ensures its quality with its own Total Quality measures it doesn’t follow the complete term ‘Six Sigma’ as of other companies like Ford etc. but it includes some parts of it and follow it as its classical tools falling under Six Sigma like just refer to the tools by their given names; Hypothesis Testing, Design of Experiments, etc… the main term which is being continued till date is TPS (Toyota Production System) which said as ‘lean’ inclusive of other common tools as SWOT and PESTLE analysis.
§ Customer: All quality management processes are designed in order to achieve high degree of customer satisfaction by identifying and delivering customer desirable products & services.
