An article written on the history of the festival explains that it first hosted the Tomorrowland event in August 2005 with just 10,000 people in attendance. Since then it has grown immensely with “185,000 attending in 2012 from over 75 countries” (Khal 2013). The festival has even partnered with Brussel Airlines to offer people travel packages and transforming Brussels airport to the theme of the festival. Mentioned by Khal (2013) Tomorrowland also received the award for the “Best Music Event” award at the 27th Annual International Dance Music …show more content…
In 2013 the festivals theme was “The Arising of Life” with the mantra “Yesterday is History, Today is a Gift, Tomorrow is a Mystery” (Tomorrowland 2013), the theme runs as a story, starting with a promotional video from the Tomorrowland organisers, it is incorporated into the individual tickets every attendee receives and begins once they arrive in Brussels airport. It is carried out until the very end of the event with the closing ceremony concluding the festival.
Experience
Tomorrowland’s emphasis on theme can be considered the main reason why the festival experience is like no other. “Tomorrowland is the enigmatic mecca of holy rave magic”, states McCarthy (2014), an enthusiastic attendant.
Another reviewer praises the festival by saying: The allure of the festival not only lies in its history and the artists that grace its world-renowned stage, but in the stellar production of the entire event—attention to detail is everything here…the experience of Tomorrowland was unique in this imagined space–an atmosphere uniting people across national and ethnic difference (Marijke

The flyer advertised the event as an indie rock dance party, and it hit the mark. The tranquil venue created a cool backdrop to a fun night. I found myself watching a guy in pink suspenders and matching bowtie dance the night away, joining the crowd in swaying along to the mellow rhythms of both performers, and grinning at the dancing that happened on-stage.…

As a result of this, the article’s audience will empathize with the author. To support this, Sanci remarked that, “Think about how much you could help someone with your gift, just by decreasing prices slightly, even if only by $20. Live music shouldn’t only be available to the rich, and music shouldn’t rob of us our paychecks.” Although there’s high demand in these concerts, Sanci proposed more affordable prices to make possible people attend to these…

My eighty-three year old grandfather handed me an overwhelmingly thick book titled “Sheils Family History” and said, “Here; look through this. Maybe you’ll run into one of these people.” I suppressed a laugh, thinking of the near zero probability of me “running into” one of my distant family members as I travelled abroad for the next two weeks. However impatient, I sat quietly listening to my grandpa chirp away about our ancestors and his war stories, while I pictured myself for the next fourteen days in a completely new place.…

What a treat; I really enjoyed the event. I was skeptical about going because I did not read the book or have any background knowledge about the author, but in hindsight that did not matter. I was able to listen to relaxing jazz music, sing along with a great singer, and reminisce about my musical days. The incorporation of the black experience throughout the event was a fresh breath of air.…

Every day, I try to listen to a new piece of music. Whether it be a string group, unaccompanied choir, or even a percussion consort, I believe that by doing this, so much can be learned from just listening. About the mid-month of July, I came across this piece of music. I thought it was extremely fun and quirky at the same time! I had continued to listen to it, read some background information on the piece, and do a small amount of study on the work.…

Today I went to Holiday in Whoville concert with Kelly together. It is really a very good experience for me because this concert is very different than other concerts that I have been before. Compare to other concerts this concert is more like a big party for me. When the singers sing the songs on the stage, all the audience can sing along with them together. In addition, because it is almost Christmas so all the songs are relevant to Christmas.…

Illusion and Magic in Blanche DuBois’s Character Throughout Tennessee William’s play, A Streetcar Named Desire, there is a prominent and continuous theme of realism and magic. In particular this theme manifests itself deeply in one specific main character, Blanche DuBois. In the play, Blanche finds herself in a consistent struggle with reality; she has immense difficulty accepting her true life, her reality. Because of Blanche’s role in the tragic suicide of her first love and husband, she becomes entirely overwhelmed and wrecked by guilt. Blanche acknowledges and claims the responsibility in her husband’s suicide as she reveals to Mitch, her momentary boyfriend, her knowledge of her husband’s affair with another grown man.…

Everyone at festivals and raves share a common goal, and that is to be able to enjoy the music they love in a stress-free environment. This explains why there is peace, love, unity and respect (or P.L.U.R) on the grounds of these events. Although I am now able to see electronic music from a different standpoint, my feelings for it still remain the same. However, I can attest that I do have a lot more respect to those who do listen to…

Opening night, the dancers that performed in the University Dance Theatre production, had talent, agility, and graceful movements. The concert had a variety of dance genres, visual appeal, and emotions that each piece and the show overall represented. Humor, drama, and serenity were not emotions I thought I would receive while watching these dances. One thing I did not realize would make many of the pieces was how crucial and reliant lighting and graphics were necessary to make the piece more visually interesting. However, I was excepting similar dances and movements; even if, some pieces had comparable choreography and emotional appeal the diversity stood out.…
