Planning, developing, and implementing is simplified with the use of the WBS (work breakdown structure) because it adds direction to the effectiveness and efficiency to a projects. WBS is a project’s life cycle structured in a hierarchical form which displays the activities logical to meet the project’s scope. WBS contains the facilitation, estimation, resources requirements, point of control, system and network, and assigned responsibilities for plans, development, and implementation to a project. Scope objectives, deliverables, and work packages are the framework to a WBS (Venkataraman & Pinto, 2008). Failure to identify those aspects can lead to false expectations or an unnecessary waste of time and resources (Venkataraman & Pinto, 2008). The scope objectives in the WBS defines tasks, standards, and specification using language for review by customers and managers to form objectives. The review allows customers and managers the ability to make correction if needed. For example, take remodeling a car using a WBS. The scope objectives to remodeling the GTO is to create a high performance car with high quality materials centered on the theme of union corns for a $1,000 over 2 months. The WBS demonstrates the project needs for monitoring and evaluating individual or multiple functions within a project for quality. The subgroup work packages of the WBS is the lowest level which contains a detail structure to how work ought to be performed. The concept to the work packages is to display cost, time, and resources with a comparison to the overall activities of a project that simplify the flow of information by assigning activities. This area gives managers the ability to gather and monitor cash flow for cost and budgetary information which creates a mechanism to control project process. Question on the activities are eliminated through the binding of deliverables and work packages. Each work packages is a task or activities to complete a project as a whole. The life cycle of work packages utilize of alpha and numeric characters to identify and define levels and elements. The code system is a form of identification.
