Register to read the introduction… He has a great hall of over 500 rooms and often hosts large rowdy feasts and gathering. Feasts in Thor’s hall were extravagant with the food and drink, with much friendly wrestling, songs and stories.

Thor has one wife, Sif, who he adores and two sons and a daughter, Magni, Modi and Thrud. Magni is a God of Strength, Modi is a God of Berserkers and their sister Thrud is a Valkyrie.

Thor is well known for his great hammer Mjollnir. He is able to topple mountains with his magical hammer and uses it to defend his family and the human race. When thrown Mjollnir always returns to Thor’s hand. The dwarves made Mjollnir and its name means

He rides a cart pulled by two wild Billy goats. The cart soars across the sky, its wheel thundering and lightning shoots out of the hooves of the goats. The goats are quite vicious; they gnash their teeth and will bite and rend flesh during battle. His two goats are called Tanngrisni (gap-tooth) and Tanngnost (Tooth-grinder)

Thor was an extremely popular and loved God during per-Christian times. The day of the week Thursday is named after him (Thor’s day) and many areas in his home country are named in tribute to him. He was a God of the people and one that many defiantly would not give up when Christianity came in.

The stories of Thor’s battles are numerous as he was ever the champion for good and life. It is said when Ragnarok comes, Thor will fight his last battle defending the world. He will defeat the Midgard serpent, Jormungard, yet sadly die after from its poison. His two sons will survive Ragnarok to carry on his good work.

Today, Pagans and followers of the Ásatrú faith hold Thor dear to their hearts. His symbol, Thor’s Hammer, is often seen worn by followers of the Norse Gods. Many throughout the world raise the mead horn and hail his name. Their love and adoration for him never diminished over the
