In the Holocaust, the prisoners were treated more inhumane than the women in the Iranian revolution. The Holocaust prisoners were treated in a more physical approach, where they were approached as if they were nothing but laborers. Once they drew their final breath, they were tossed out to the side, as if they served no real purpose in their life. Tadeusz Borowski thoroughly portrayed how they were treated in his short story, This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen. Borowski illustrated that the prisoners inside the camp had to clean out the trains that held other Jews. The prisoners observed that “In the corners amid human excrement and abandoned wristwatches lie squashed, trampled infants, naked little monsters with enormous heads and bloated bellies. We carry them out like chickens, holding several in each hand” (Borowski 8). This observation shows how much the Nazis treated the prisoners, and those that died. They made the prisoners do jobs that no one can imagine to do, and they treated the dead bodies as if they were nothing. On the other hand, the women at the Iranian revolution, were dehumanized and treated through a more mental approach. The women had their clothing rights restricted, and their government was suppressing their protests, not allowing them to have their own way. Reading the Holocaust, Women, the Victims of the Iranian Revolution, Maus, Persepolis, This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen, and Reading Lolita in Tehran, allows us readers understand the feelings of the tragic events of these stories in their own individual ways shows their own sense of dehumanization in their events, but interlacing these stories together will deepen our understanding of the feelings and emotions of dehumanization of those who suffered through these tragic events. All in all, these stories are all different, but they all express the same inevitable result of dehumanization through symbolic means in their own unique story. Even though these tragic events happened in the far past, dehumanization still roams throughout the people, and there may be no way to stop
