The Things They Carried Narrative Analysis

Attention, attention read all about it, Tim O’Brien uses fiction or narrative in his writings. When you read a story, you are the narrator, how would you read the story. Would you see yourself in the story, being the main character, being on the front line like Tim O’Brien was. Imagine yourself carrying the things of past or deceased soldiers. You are in control, you have the power to make a story a fiction piece or a narrative one. I did, when reading, “The Things They Carried,” Tim O’Brien I focused on the narrator side of the story. Defining the odds, when you read this story, “The Things They Carried,” Tim O’Brien describes a time and a place and puts himself in that place (being Vietnam). He may not mention himself in the story, but as you read, think he couldn’t be making these scenes and things up. He simply changes his characters to made up or make believe people. As he progresses in his writings, he shifts between first person and third person singular focusing on different characters.
