“You can have a wrestling idea, but you need these momentum shifting moves.. We had the Hulkamania movement, then it shifted to the beer drinking, Stone Cold era. We reinvented the business with becoming the bad guy. What’s the next level?” (“Hulk Hogan’s Quotes”). This quote by former WWE wrestler Hulk Hogan illustrates the change of the wrestling industry. A man who was the accelerant to that change was “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Born in Austin Texas, Steve grew up in a low income family. He later on went under the tutelage of a superb athlete named Chris Adams to become a wrestler. Austin went to WCW where he won a few titles. He then jump ship to WWE where he cemented his legacy as one of the greatest wrestler of all time. “Stone Cold” …show more content…
When one thinks of the definition of “the” champion, It would be a crime not to mention Austin 3:16. In his whole career, Steve won a total of twenty-one championship titles. In his early days in WCW (World Championship wrestling), Austin won a variety of titles. Some examples of titles he won in WCW are the WCW Television, and the WCW United States Championship titles. In WWE, Austin transformed into the iconic figure we all know and love by winning the “King Of The Ring” championship in 1995. That was when Steve’s trademark Austin 3:16 era started. Ever since then, Steve Austin achieved a number of accolades such as winning the Royal Rumble 3 times (more than any other superstar in the WWE.) He also won the world tag-team championship titles 4 times. Some of the people Austin teamed with were “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels, “The Phenom” The Undertaker, and Dude Love. These alliances helped Steve know them from the inside to strategize a way to beat them in the future for the WWE championship. For example, Michaels mentored Austin in the game of wrestling, and Steve defeated him at wrestlemania 14 for the WWE championship. Steve’s last accomplishment in the WWE was being inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame Class of 2009.
