As it continues there's a new teacher named Ms. Grewell she is a Freshman and Sophomore teacher she is new to Woodrow Wilson High School. As she stood in her classroom she sees that there's no students there in her class and it's lonely and quiet, she looks around and when she does she hears noises coming from the Hallways she then sees her students being escorted by a security guard. That's when she figured she was going to have a hard time with them. Once they sat down they started being rude to her and making fun of people. Gruwell talked about how the teachers tried to break her down and wanted her to give up on the students like all the other teachers did, all the teachers gave up on the students and she couldn't because she felt like she was the only hope they had to make it through high school and life. Ms. Gruwell bought books for the students because she felt that the books could relate to their life and would make them want to read because it was relating to their lives and they could also get an education in the same process. Later on in the school year Ms. Gruwell asked the students to write a self-evaluation and asked the students to put a letter grade and one of the students put an “F” and Ms.Gruwell didn’t believe in failure from the student and she confronted the student and made sure the student would never think like that

In Ray Bradbury’s story, “All Summer in a Day”, he tells of children that end up giving up their individual morals, and then regret it. Similarly, in the writings of “Ponies” and “Harrison Bergeron”, the writers KIJ Johnson and Kurt Vonnegut Jr. speak of characters who want to fit in, but end up giving up their uniqueness to do so. They end up feeling remorse about trying to fit in. Fitting in can have a negative effect- causing someone to lose what’s different about them.…
