Using the character Jared as an example, the character used a lot of body language and facial expressions to convey his emotions and personality. This is shown in the scenes where Ploughman is present and Jared is constantly turning his body away from him. The character himself is represented and well-defined before any words are spoken on stage through the way the character holds himself and which body part they lead with. In addition, the stereotypical character ‘boofhead’ used mainly body language to convey not only his emotions, but the personality of the character. As shown when he was first introduced, he charged onto stage and lead with his chest, which shows he is a confident character. There were many characters throughout the performance, and each was defined with at least one prop to show who the character was. Examples of props to convey specific characters include the short, brown wig which represented the character of Jared’s mother. As soon as the actress walked on stage with the wig, the audience immediately understood she was now in the role of Jared’s mother. Another example of props used are Ploughman’s headphones.
