Lorenzo’s Oil

The movie Lorenzo Oil is about a boy who had a disease known as Adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD. It began with Lorenzo at the age of six in 1978 in East Africa, where he learned how to speak more than one language with the Comoros, an East African tribe. He was there with his parents, Augusto and Michaela Odone.

When the family returned to Washington, D.C., Lorenzo began showing symptoms of the disease. The first time was when he became violent and ruined the other kids’ paintings at kindergarten one day. In another instance, he failed to hear his music blaring. Then one day, Lorenzo had a temper tantrum and started throwing things.

This is where the title of the movie Lorenzo’s Oil came into play. Lorenzo’s dad used a chemist from Germany to combine a mix of oleic acid and erucic acid by extract them from rapeseed oil and olive oil. Before Lorenzo drank the oil, it was tested with his healthy aunt. After eating it, she showed no side affects from taking it. Then Lorenzo used it. Bingo! His health improved. However, he did not become completely normal because of how badly the disease had damaged him. A few years later scientist, observed ALD in dogs and found out how to restore myelin, which helps restore parts of the nervous system. This discovery helped to improve Lorenzo’s mobility. In the end, Lorenzo was able to communicate with a computer. He died at the age of 30 on May 30, 2008, years after doctors had said he would die. His story is one of many lessons, including that doctors don’t always have the answers and that a loving, determined, and desperate father can overcome any

For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…

This did not work out for the immigrants due to poor living conditions, so they moved out. Soon after, the Cabrini high-rises were transformed and were turned into the Cabrini-Green homes after people built the William Green homes as an add-on to the Frances Cabrini homes. Right after that happened, the Cabrini-Green homes became an extremely segregated place to live, due to the population being predominantly African-American. 1. Over a hundred people were involved in the production of this film. The entire cast and crew are not given equal credit in most films. The majority of the camera crew and other production workers are not given as much credit for their work as the actors and director/producers, even though they play a huge role in the development and production of the movie. The making of a huge blockbuster like ‘The Departed’ involves the use of an immense crew.…

The Divine Plan The Passion of the Christ, a Hollywood portrayal of the judgement and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, brings to life the Gospel’s narration of the most important day of mankind. This paper will demonstrate that although the movie’s depiction slanted towards a bias of the Jewish people being against Jesus, the Sanhedrin were not representatives of the sediment of the Jews. It will also show that Pontius Pilate, a man of consciousness, was ultimately used as a pawn by God to carry out the inevitable death of Jesus. Finally, this paper will demonstrate that the death of Jesus was not a result of the Sanhedrin or Pontius Pilot, but rather the inevitable result of the sins of man.…

The film The Believer, is a film about Danny Balint who is a Jewish boy that becomes a neo-Nazi. He grows up to be an angry, violent guy, attacking Judaism and Jews. Throughout the film, the paradoxical anti-Semitic view of Jewish self-hatred can be seen but along with this, viewers see that as much as Danny hates Jews and Judaism, he cares about the traditions as well. Although Danny kills himself, thus ending the protagonist, the ending of the film is inconclusive. One could argue that Danny chose to take his own life because of his internal struggle between being a neo-Nazi and a Jew.…

Throughout the years the “Passion of the Christ” movies have been used to tell the story about Christ’s death and resurrection. Then in 2004 Mel Gibson made his version of the movie and as I like to say brought it in to the 21st century with updated graphics, violence, and blood. The combination of images, faith, and history this film truly was like no other Passion of Christ movie ever done. The Passion of the Christ is a serious and deep piece of cinematography, it not just show us how much pain one man went through for us but it celebrates for the unbeliever the triumph of humanity over an absolute brutality and through this movie for all the believers of the Christian faith this movie has become a powerful reminder that we still need to…
