Differences Between My Mother And Step-Mother

Are there many differences distinguished between parents and step-parents? Mothers and step-mothers, in particular, are pretty different from one another. My mother’s name is Sarah and my step-mother’s name is Valerie. I have, of course, known my mother since birth and I have known my step-mother since I was two-years old. In other words, I know a lot about both of them even though I met my step-mother when I was younger. I cannot remember the time before I was two-years old, so it does not matter if I knew my step-mother at that time. My mother and Valerie have many differences and similarities such as their appearances, personalities, and parenting styles. First, my mother’s appearance is quite more feminine than Valerie’s appearance. My mother has wavy, shoulder-length blonde hair that looks like the dry sand on a …show more content…
My mother’s appearance is different such as the bump on her nose, heart-shaped face and being short at 5’2”. Valerie’s appearance includes her green eyes, square-shaped face and boxy chin. My mother and she both have freckles on their faces. My mother’s personality is brighter than Valerie’s personality because my mother is more nurturing, cooperative, and knowing how to give forgive and forget. Valerie’s personality is a bit darker such as being a narcissist, lazy, extrovert, and having to be dominant in her love life. My mother and Valerie both share the personality trait of being adventurous and faithful to their husbands. My mother’s parenting style is her being grounding her children when they misbehave and talking things out with them if they have problem or has been misbehaving. Valerie’s parenting style is just her being mostly absent and care-free in what her children do. They both set a bedtime and curfew for their children. I believe there are many differences distinguished between parents and

People often remark that my sisters, Olive and Ivy, seem very similar, but if one looks a little beneath the surface, the differences in personality between them become apparent. To start with, Olive is ten years old whereas Ivy is only three, so Olive is more mature, larger, and is more educated than Ivy. Olive is more stubborn and sassy, while Ivy is more cooperative and demure. For example, when it comes to bedtime, Olive will stay on her computer and complain when told to go to bed, but Ivy will listen the first time without talking back. Finally, Olive is short-tempered, while Ivy is more easy-going.…

To sit and compare the similarities and differences between an African-American and a Mexican-American on two different coasts of the United States and being raised in two different decades by parents who have different beliefs and who also has different child rearing practices and, to do it successfully, is highly improbable, but the only thing that I can think of is the opening line of the book “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy “Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” Which to me accurately describes both of the non fiction excerpts “Complexion” (from Hunger of Memory) by Richard Rodriguez and “Notes of a Native Son” by James Baldwin. James Baldwin describes his father as “he was the most bitter man I have…

Packet Question #31 If you and a close friend were attracted to each other and neither of you were involved with anyone else, how do you think it would impact your friendship if you decide to become a couple? Explain your answer. If me and a close friend were attracted to each other and were both not involved with anyone else, and decided to become a couple, I think that it would be a little awkward at first, because we would probably make jokes about kissing, or talking about relationship stuff, but eventually it would get better. It would also make our friendship much stronger, because we were already close, and we know what makes each other happy, mad, or sad, and probably know most of what we want in a relationship, because we tell eachother…

The life-span perspective posits that development cannot be understood solely in terms of genetics, but must include equal assessment of both nature and nurture. In this regard, three of the most important “nurture” influences are parents (and parenting styles), types of caregivers (including parental caregivers but not exclusive to them), and early educational experiences. In most circumstances, a child’s parent is one of his/her most important influences. As such, the way that the parent acts towards the child is important to understanding child development.…
