Another problem is the effects of using too much of these resources. The reason why pollution and global warming are such big issues is because of the overuse of natural resources. Unsimilarly, the next flaw is actually a biological one. As organisms, humans have the tendency to use as much of the environment around them as they can for the improvement of themselves (Chiras, 2016). This creates kind of a selfish mentality. Instead of thinking about the effects of an action on nature or wildlife, many people just think about what they will benefit from it. Moving towards the psychological side, unsustainability is usually such a problem because of how humans have a tendency to look past danger that is not immediate (Chiras, 2016). If the effects of an action aren’t clearly and abruptly shown, then they are just put on the back burner and forgotten about until they problem becomes too massive. This tendency of humans cause a disregard for the effects of unsustainable living. No one sees immediate harm so they continue to make the mistakes that are hurting the environment. The environment will continue to be unsustainable until humans learn to change the ways of the …show more content…
Like mentioned earlier, biological imperialism is when an organism uses the environment for their personal benefit. This mindset is the cause for humans abusing the environment and overusing its resources for their individual gain. The belief that mankind is above nature and has the right to subdue and control it follows. Sustainable ethics is the opposite of this. It is the realization that humans are in fact a part of nature and there are only limited resources which, along with the environment, need to be taken care of (Chiras, 2016). Sustainable ethics is a big turn from how people used to think, but it’s a necessary one. Without it the Earth proceeds to worsen and will be more difficult to fix. With these ethics, more respect will be put on the environment and on nature, creating a more sustainable
