The Fred Harvey Company collection invites exploration of the history of one of America’s largest restaurant and resort companies. The collection consists of material from the Fred Harvey Indian Department, Grand Canyon operations, Harvey Girls, and the company publications department. It remains one of the most heavily requested collections. The story of the Grand Canyon isn’t complete without the photographs produced by the Kolb brothers from 1911-1971. Emery Kolb captured photographs of previously unseen and nearly inaccessible areas of the Grand Canyon. It is the preeminent photographic collection documenting the Grand Canyon in the 20th century. Tad Nichols traveled with many scientific expeditions, gained experience as a cameraman during WWII, and eventually produced his own films about the Southwest. His images portray the story of Glen Canyon, the dam, Lake Powell, and other well-known geographic features of the
