In this article the author talks about how they slowly stopped using social media. How after cutting it out of their life they had more time for the gym and the more time they spent off-line, the more in-life opportunities came their way. The author then discussed three items or topics that support the idea of how media can negatively effect your persons. Henderson talks about how it can affect your self-esteem from negative comments or not enough likes. Also, how it can affect your blood pressure from the stress of missing out or stressing about how many likes or comments a picture or post may or may not get. Finally, even though it is a “social” site, it does not equate to actual face to face social interaction.

It starts with the good parts of social media. The good parts are mainly focused on business, social group and long distance communication. It says that it is good to be able to get ahold of those with the same ideas and so you don’t feel alone, along with being able to talk and share with family and friends that you usually would not be able to due to distance. Then the bad side of social media is how it has taken over the mass majorities lives, how people are always on their phones checking and making updates. It also expresses how productivity goes out the window because people become too worried about missing out on something. Then the probably worse bad fact is it is not the same as face to face interaction causing it to lower people’s social capabilities. The ugly side of social media is how it can literally ruin someone. Just looking at the false Facebook relationships, and how it can just as easily ruin a relationship from a bad looking pick or being contacted by someone that should not
