Technology performs an important role in the advancement of organizations and how they are managed. In order for an organization to run effectively and smoothly, organizations must be able to adapt to the rapid technological advances that will occur in the future. By implementing technology into business environments, it allows organizations to create simpler and more efficient ways to complete tasks and become more effective in all areas including information management and human resources. Although staying current in technology can be beneficial, it also brings its own set of security and ethical issues as well as developing efficient technology training and strategy components. The world is now smaller than ever and more interconnected through technology. There is a vast abundance of knowledge that is available 24/7 on the Internet that is easily accessible through electronic devices. Technology now allows people to seamlessly be connected and share information through various modes of communication such as cell phones, instant messaging, computers, as well as many other devices. Technological advances have also affected information management through the creation of computers and super computer chips that are able to process and analyze information at lightening speeds that no human ever could. Advances in touch screen software have quickly changed the game of electronics and has led to the development of no-touch interfaces, which are hands-free devices that use technology, such as voice recognition, cameras, motion sensors, and motion control systems, to provide an alternative means of interacting with a mobile device or computer (Satell, 2013). Another advancement that is expected to become a major element of technological change in the future is near field communication (NFC), which uses special protocols and computer chips to create a wireless link that can transmit two-way data, allowing them to essentially communicate with other nearby devices (Satell, 2013). Cloud storage will also play a major role in information management, as many more things are stored virtually on the web instead of as hard physical copies.
