The nineties was a decade full of silliness and learning in the United States. In the beginning of the decade the country was fighting a war then in the middle of the decade they experienced a terror attack. The nineties came out with a variety of music and movies for people of all ages to enjoy.
The time period from 1990 to 2000 is what is known as the nineties now. The nineties rolled around just as the U.S was preparing for the Persian Gulf War that would take place in 1991. Some of the bands that were popular then are popular now as well. Bands such as, Nirvana, Sublime, and Seether were all rising to fame in the mid to late nineties. One of Nirvanas most popular songs is Smells like Teen Spirit. Sublime began to rise in popularity when they began touring with a punk rock band called Green Day. However, they released their very first single on May 6, 1991. Seether is one of the most interesting bands of its time because they were from South Africa but only ever popular in the U.S. The original name of the band was saran gas which was changed to Seether. The band picked the name Seether form Veruca Salts song Seether.
Many movies that came out in the nineties were so popular then and are still watched now. A romantic comedy favorite of many young adults now is 10 Things I Hate About You which came out in 1999 and the two main characters where Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger.
