At the beginning of the story it starts out with the narrator Norman Mclean. He stated that it was like growing up in Missoula, Montana. He was the son of Scottish Presbyterian minister who holds two things close to him with the family, which is fly fishing and God. Norman has a younger brother named Paul; they spent most of their time when not being in school or church services you’d find them fly fishing. I liked that it was about a family that went through obstacles during their life. Their father was a stern minister who believed that God came first. One of the obstacles that the family had to deal with was the death of their loved one Paul. When Paul died it changed their lives in many different ways. I like how they mentioned Paul liking to drink and also gamble. This is what more than likely took his life, because from gambling he owed a man money and he didn’t have the money and this is when he got beat with the butt of the gun and it lead him to
