The people need to trust the system before they can trust global governance. It is difficult for a corrupt leader to vote in the union focusing on the benefit of the nation instead of his own pocket. Smartly enough, western countries take advantage of it thereby creating a cycle of inefficiency in poor countries. The concept of global governance is common to that of a world government therefore if we put all our hopes in a certain group of people to govern the whole world, we might get cheated in the end.
