As much as she did not want to leave her family behind, she knew that moving to the US was the only way she would receive better economic opportunities; she also wanted to be independent and be able to take care of herself. The day she made her decision was the day her whole life changed. She drove to Mexico City and then flew to Sonora, where a van was waiting for her, her cousin and a couple of other strangers with children. They spent two days in a house in the middle of nowhere because they were too scared to leave. Finally, it was time for them to start their journey across the border.
