The Pros And Cons Of Gay Marriage

Register to read the introduction… The biggest reason why people are against it is because gay marriage is against their religion, and it is considered a deadly sin. The bible does say in Leviticus 18:22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable” Which is understandable considering it is in the bible, but look at how many other things in the bible have been changed since it has been written. Additionally to that, it does not say anything about gay marriage being a sin in the Ten Commandments. Another argument that comes up a lot is: “same-sex parents should not be a loud to adopt a child” for reasons like: they cannot take care of them, they need a mother, the child will live a miserable life, etc. All of these reasons are wrong. Homosexuals have both a strong role of a male, but also has the tender and caring side of which a mother has, so technically that child is getting a two in one package. Also if they are living in an area that allows gay marriage, they are able to have a civil union or a domestic partnership, which allows them to have medical care and everything else that other partners have. The last thing to point out is that people all over the world have been saying that they don’t agree with it and that it would affect everybody in a negative way. This is completely inaccurate. Who is gay marriage affect other than the actual same-sex people getting marriage? That is right, no one. Having gay marriage legal would not affect anyone negatively because it is no one’s business to be snooping into other people’s lives and it would not physically affect other human …show more content…

If it were to become legal, our society and community would be greatly affected, but in the best way possible. People would not need to fight this constant battle, and the world would become more peaceful if they got rid of this preposterous law of not having same-sex

Gay marriage is an issue that is similar to nearly every controversial issue in America History. Most conscientious social issues in America life begin with a large majority of traditionalists pushing back, then some dramatic event event will usually occur, following that public opinion will slowly start to even out, and eventually past actions/ideas will be seen as prejudiced. It's like America collectively goes through the stages of grief before we see social justice: Denial, a lot of anger, barraging, sadness, and then finally acceptance. Along with million of Americans who felt similarly, we saw denial in Senator Jesse Helms by saying that homosexuals were morally wrenched, and believing that homosexuality was a choice. Collectively, we saw the anger in families across the country disowning their children; similarly there was anger in the viscous murder of Matthew Shepard.…

There are also many children of same sex couples who go on to be psychologically healthy members of society. A big thing is that the couple gets their marital benefits. When a couple gets married they get many great benefits that a single person wouldn’t get, so a homosexual would say this was fair to them. America is an overly cautious country. We are scared of the unknown and of things we don’t fully understand. That’s why we became more hesitant on letting people into our country after events like 9/11 and any other terrorist attacks. As a country we sometimes are way to prideful to ever admit it. For this reason we have not allowed our citizens the freedom that is stated in our constitution.…

As people we are granted rights by the government. As a citizen who pays their taxes and follows the laws we are afforded these rights as Americans. These rights are taken for granted on a day to day basis but, unfortunately, not all citizens are given equal rights. Specifically, gay and lesbian people are denied these rights. Imagine not being able to marry the person you love; this is the reality of gay marriage. “The history of marriage has changed over time, but generally involved the establishment of family units to produce children. Kingdoms used marriage to forge alliances, acquire land, and produce legitimate heirs. By the 16th century, the church decreed that weddings were performed in public, by a priest, and before witnesses. ‘Traditional Marriage’ has evolved since then and the church is currently viewing marriage as between a man and a woman.”…

Gays couples can be models of family life, offering just as much love and support for children as hetersexual couples. Gender should not be covered by marriage law, as the constitution protects US citizens from gender discrimination.…

Most of the LGBTQ community would say Sexual orientation should be considered a genetic trait rather than a personal choice, because most would say being gay, bisexual, or transgender did not happen over a short period of time. Its something that can happen over years; some notice it when they are younger and can see that they are not into the things that most kids their gender are. According to most of our science textbooks we used in school would say that there is always a reason for the unexplainable, you just have to look long and hard for the answer, I personally could notice these changes around my middle school years. As time goes on the scientific answer is still being sought out. Is it a genetic trait that some acquire or is it something that can be taught or picked up by at a young age?…
