The men fought and the women were used mainly as nurse and a couple of other odd jobs like telephone operators and war correspondents (Roark et al. 2015, 590). At home in America, women were enjoying the war. Many women took advantage of all of the men being shipped off to Europe which left thousands of jobs open for them to work. Most of these jobs came from the factories producing military equipment needed over in Europe. On the political front the women’s rights movement progressed to a new step by women finally received the right to vote with the passing of the nineteenth amendment (Roark et al. 2015, 591 592). With the right to vote everything change for women. Instead of being treated like a piece of property they were treated like a free person. With feeling like a free person they had a totally new outlook at the world with starting to get more jobs and more women went to college (Roark et al. 2015, 614 615). During this time women were still having problems by men did not want women to vote so they placed all kinds of rules on voting to scare women away (Roark et al. 2015, 615). To help motivate women to work in the factories the United States created propaganda posters.
