The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History presented Colin Powell and another candidate with the Great American reward from the Great American Program. The director, John Gray, said he presented the award to them since they represent, ‘”Democracy, freedom, justice, opportunity and equality are among the enduring American values and ideals embodied by our first two honorees”’ (PR Newswire, para. 3). The journalist complained that Powell said that Israel had an estimate of two hundred nuclear missiles when in fact Israel only had about sixty to eighty nuclear missiles, because he was given an older version of the missile estimate by the CIA. The journalists also complained about how he used his personal laptop and his own email account to send emails that could have government secrets in them, which lead to the Republican Party demanding that those emails be recovered. There are also claims that he encouraged Hillary Clinton to use her personal email account and told her how to get around the White House’s security.
