Death in Edgar Allan Poe's short stories
"Death" is one of the well-known themes of Edgar Allan Poe's art, in which the author captures the physical signs, decomposition, the sensation of feeling buried alive, the reanimation of the death or the mourning. Most of the works of Edgar Allan Poe have a dark atmosphere, full of mystery. These works illustrate the dramatic events, explores the dark side of human relationships and offer visions of the sublime. The works explore the tragedy that brings one to the edge of madness where nothing seems real, the place where the soul disintegrates, leaving only the essence of a life unfulfilled bitter. A similarity that could be seen in these two works is that the protagonists both kill innocent victims; in "The Masque of the Red Death", the protagonist kills an innocent man because of his own paranoia, because of the old man's "evil" eye; in "The Tell-Tale Heart", the protagonist Prince Prospero murders his people by not showing any type of affection and by being greedy: he throws a luxurious party for his friends ["...he summoned to his presence a thousand hale and light-hearted friends from among the knights and dames of his court (http://xroads.virginia.edu/~hyper/poe/masque.html, ] while letting his innocent people suffer.
