The Kingdom of the Netherlands’ affairs are mainly overseen by the Netherlands, however all four parts are considered equal partners. The Netherlands consists of 12 provinces which are; Drenthe, Flevoland, Fryslan, Gelderland, Groningen, Limburg, Noord-Brabant, Noord-Holland, Overijssel, Utrecht, Zeeland, and Zuid-Holland. King Willem-Alexander is the chief of state and Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Deputy Prime Minister Lodewijk Asscher are the heads of the government. The executive branch also includes a cabinet which is consists of the Council of Ministers, the Council of State, and councilors. The Legislative branch consists of States General, which includes the First Chamber, which has 75 seats, as well as the Second Chamber, which has 150 seats. Finally, the Judicial branch is made up of 41 judges. The highest level is the Supreme Court, which is divided into criminal, civil, tax, and ombuds chambers, and the lower level courts include courts of appeal, or district courts. The main political parties in the Netherlands are Christian Democratic Appeal, Christian Union, Democrats 66, 50 Plus, Green Left, Labor Party, Party for Freedom, Party for the Animals, People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy, Reformed Political Party, Socialist Party, and a few other minor parties.
