1. Pedagogy
Pedagogy is a teacher’s method or practice on how they teach their students. My pedagogy before teaching the work sample unit was: First, all students should be given the opportunity to access the content the content being taught on their level. Second, if you use UDL to present the content in multiple ways students will access the content and develop and understanding of it. Third, UDL helps students move through the stages of Blooms Taxonomy of learning especially from remembering to understanding and to understanding to applying. Fourth, when planning lesson teachers need to plan for student considerations that are meaningful and beneficial for students. Once, I started to teach my lesson and implementing …show more content…
I had not been provided with an opportunity to see what an assessment looked like at the kindergarten level because the teachers do not give assessments unless they are state issues. I did not know how many questions to put on the assessment. I did not want to overwhelm my students. I ended up have 13 items on my assessment. 6 out of the 13 items were focus on the six stages of the life cycle. After implementing the pre and post assessment and my instruction I would go back and change my assessment. I did not make it challenging enough for my students. Most of my question remained at the remembering level of Blooms. A lot of the questions I asked on my assessment, my students could answer with prior knowledge. I should have included more questions at the understanding level and even one question at the application level. I under estimated my students and what they could answer. When creating an assessment I did not create an assessment that allowed for major growth between pre and post assessment. Now that I have experienced implementing a pre-assessment that I could not change for my post assessment after implementing instruction, I now know that my students do not need to be successful on the pre-assessment. I think I was worried about my students feeling confident when taking the pre-assessment and not worried about the opportunity for growth. When creating assessment for kindergarten in the future I will not be afraid to include question that are at the understanding and application level of Blooms
