Although the path to the Kingdom of Heaven is available to everyone, not all people will travel it because it is believed by some to be too difficult or people do not take the time to understand what it takes. …show more content…
The narrow path is not a short path. Otherwise, anyone could have patience and faith for a short time. That would not instill the true patience that is needed to inherit the necessary qualities to enter into the kingdom of God. Patience involves endurance through the testing of faith. There will be longsuffering but, through patience and faith, the individual will persevere.
In today’s society, everything is fast paced and everybody wants things done quickly and there are many distractions. That is the perfect environment for the devil to work. Far too many people are overwhelmed with distractions, such as social media, sports, worries about paying the bills, what to eat and where to go for vacation. Very few people have the patience to wait on the Lord. But, it is a virtue that must be practiced regularly.
God also wants the attention of His people. He wants to hear from them daily, if not more. Prayers are used to thank God, to ask for things or even just to talk with God. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (KJV, Mat 7:7). Once upon this path, the worries will begin to lessen because the focus remains on God instead of the earthly problems. Also, reading God’s word will help to remain focused on God. It may be difficult to understand at first but, finding a particular chapter or verse and reflecting on it throughout the day will help to get a better and deeper understanding of what Jesus taught.
Through reading God’s word, it will be apparent that everyone who relies on Him will succeed. When there is no trust in God, all of mankind’s goals will assuredly fail. Learning and understanding that pride and vanity will eventually result in failure. When an individual has pride in their accomplishments, it becomes a reliance on their own abilities and skills. “Humility is the foundation of all virtue, but pride is the essence of all sin” (Vaughan, 2012, para. 4). Though humble people take pleasure in their accomplishments, they never gloat or brag. As Lewis writes, “We must not think that Pride is something God forbids because he is offended at it, or the Humility is something He demands as due to His own dignity – as God Himself was proud” (Lewis 127). To know God deeply and to seek His face is to counteract the desires of pride. Lewis continues that god desires to give Himself to man.…

Often times making deals with people in order to make their wishes become a reality, but there’s always a twist when it comes to working with the devil. This type of situation has been used in many stories throughout the years, especially in the story “The Devil and Tom Walker” and the movie “Snow White and the Huntsman”. The Wesley Understand of Human Salvation What is salvation? The salvation which is here spoken of is not what is frequently understood by the word, the going to heaven, eternal happiness. …… It is not a blessing which lies on the other side of death….it is a present thing….[it] might be extended to the entire work of God , from the first dawning of grace in the soul till it is consummated in glory (Maddox 143). Albert C. Outler noted that this sermon has the most extensive history of oral preaching behind it of any of the written sermons; therefore, he recommended it as the best single essay by which to judge Wesley’s soteriology (Maddox 323). Wesley denied here that human salvation is only a future hope; Wesley was also denying that it is…
