There is a use of twist endings to change the entire moral of the story. Wether its reading “The Snipper” by Liam O’Flahherty, “The Diamond Neckless” by Guy de Maupassant or “Just Lather, Thats All” by Hernando Tellez all encounter a twisted ending. The mood and perspective in which the reader receives changes due to the rather sudden twisted and surprising ending. In the three short stories, the sudden twisted ending changes how the reader looks at the antagonist. The twisted endings tie up all the loose strings of the stories. Ultimately, the characters are presented with a twisted fate, which changes the mood and perspective of the reader at the end of each work.

In “The Sniper” the moral of the story is that war tears families apart. “The sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brothers face.”(Liam O’Flahherty, 3). The sniper and his brother were put on two different armies because the country was fighting against its self. They both had to go against each other and shot at each other because it was their duty to do so. In “Just Lather, Thats All” the moral of the story is not to judge people by what you have heard but judge them for what you personally know about them. “They told me that you 'd kill me. I came to find out. But killing isn 't easy you can take my word for it.”(Hernando Tellez, 3). The twisted ending shows us that the barber has mis judged Captain Torres. In “ The Diamond Neckless” the moral of the story is always tell the truth no matter the mistake you have committed. “Oh, my poor Mathilde! Why, my necklace was paste! It was worth at most only five hundred francs!” (Guy de Maupassant, 5) The twisted ending shows us that Mathilda has wasted all her time to pay off the diamond neckless that she had to replace. When really if she would 've told the truth from the beginning she would 've known that the neckless was paste. In “Just Lather, Thats All” the twisted fate shows that after all Captain Torres knows that the barber wants to kill him. Captain Torres says “They told me that you 'd kill me. I came to find out.
